Based in London, Stephen is a Managing Director of Mooreland Partners, an investment banking advisory firm focused on the Information Technology and Communications sectors.
Stephen has been based in London since 1996 when he started Robertson Stephens International, the European division of the San Francisco-based investment bank. Stephen was CEO of Robertson Stephens International, and responsible for the firm’s investment banking and equities operations with offices in London, Munich and Tel Aviv. During the 1996-2002 period, Stephen was involved in over 40 capital markets transactions for technology and life sciences companies on virtually every major stock exchange in Europe. During 1998-2001, Stephen also served on the Board of Directors of EASDAQ, the pan-European stock exchange based in Brussels.
Prior to moving to Europe, Stephen was a sellside equity research analyst for over 11 years at two leading growth stock oriented, US brokerage firms. At Robertson Stephens in San Francisco, Stephen was a special situations analyst following growth companies in a variety of specialized consumer, industrial and business services markets. From 1987 to 1993, Stephen worked for Alex. Brown & Sons in Baltimore, where he founded that firm’s environmental services practice, and became one of the leading waste services and pollution control analysts in the US. Stephen began his career in New York with Booz Allen & Hamilton, the management consulting firm.
Stephen currently serves on the Board of Directors of Fox Technologies (Palo Alto, CA) and Cypak (Stockholm, Sweden), and on the Advisory Board of Polytechnos, a Munich-based venture capital firm.
Stephen is a graduate of Amherst College and the Harvard Business School, and received a CEP degree from L’Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris. Bilingual in English and French, Stephen holds dual US/French citizenship.
