Maria Gracia Rubio is a Partner at Baker & McKenzie Madrid.

She started working as a lawyer before joining the Legal Services Division of the Spanish Securities Market Commission (CNMV) in 1988. In 1994, she started again her legal practice as founding partner of the firm of Rubio & Carretero, which in 1997 merged into the firm Briones, Alonso, Martín - Bureau Francis Lefebvre. Following the merger of this firm with Baker & McKenzie in January 2001, she became a Partner in this firm.

In 2006, she was appointed by the European Commission as a member of the European Securities Markets Experts Group for a two years term, to advise the Commission on the reform of securities markets regulations. She has joined the Group on the Market Abuse and Prospectus Directive sub-groups.

Maria Gracia Rubio regularly publishes articles on securities law, corporate governance, and financial services regulation, and has contributed to various books written collectively with other authors. She also participates on a regular basis in academic and professional forums on issues related to her area of specialization.

She teaches "International Securities Regulations" as Adjunct Professor in the Instituto de Empresa Master of International Legal Practice, and "European Securities Regulations" at the William & Mary School of Law Summer Program in Madrid.

Maria Gracia Rubio graduated in law from the Madrid Complutense University (Spain) in 1983 and was awarded a LLM from Harvard University in 1985. She is a member of the Madrid Bar Association since 1985.
