After 25 years, private equity deserved a bullish celebration!

The EVCA’s Symposiums have always given the private equity and venture capital community a chance to come together, to exchange their knowledge and to celebrate their achievements. But in 2008, it was even more special.

Not only did the Symposium come at a crucial time for the industry, it also came at a key moment in the life of the EVCA.

Exactly 25 years ago our organisation was founded to represent the interests of European venture capital and private equity. A quarter of a century on, irrespective of business cycles or credit crunches, the metrics of success have drastically changed.

Who are the new movers and shakers? How has ‘size’ changed our business? How to cope with the ever changing economic and political landscape? Can we continue to stay in control, provide value added and prosper?

These challenges were best tackled together. And that in itself was a reason to celebrate. The moment was ripe to look back at all that has been achieved - and to look ahead together to where tomorrow’s opportunities lie.
